Offering commitment from one of the U.K.’s largest independent provider’s of residential childcare, you will provide high quality therapeutic childcare to help children and young people deal with their past trauma and prepare for a brighter future.

You will also be supported by a Registered Manager who has many successful years’ experience in providing children’s residential services.

As a Deputy Manager you will:

  • In conjunction with the Registered Manager, be responsible for delivery of all care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home, and all day to day management matters.
  • Take part in recruiting and on-boarding a team of Children’s Support Workers.
  • Deliver childcare that is focussed on obtaining the best outcomes for each child and young person within the home.
  • Provide practical leadership in childcare, as well as organise and support staff to provide the best possible care for each child and young person.
  • Be personally available to support the emotional and physical well-being of the children.
  • Supervise and mentor staff and organise work patterns.

Candidates are required to have:

  • 3 years minimum residential childcare experience
  • Experience of Child Protection
  • Experience of supervising staff in a children’s home
  • A NVQ level 3 in Children & Young Peoples Workforce or QCF level 3 diploma in Residential Childcare

This is an exciting role which will see you be part of a new team, establishing and opening a new home for a U.K. wide children’s social care provider.

The home will be a long-term place to live for children and young people with social, emotional behavioural difficulties due to complex backgrounds such as neglect, abuse, domestic violence and drug & alcohol abuse and mental health issues.

As well as the attractive salary you will be paid a £500 “golden hello” after one month’s service and a £750 bonus upon passing probation.

As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will

  • Work 3 long days and 2 sleep ins on a seven day rota.
  • Work with young people with emotional, behavioural difficulties to support their physical and emotional needs and regain their confidence.
  • Key work.
  • Follow individual care plans according to each child’s needs.
  • Take part in activities with the children.
  • Keep the home clean and tidy whilst making sure that the children responsibly also help towards that.
  • Get involved with preparing and cooking meals.
  • Support the young people with their homework.
  • See the rewards of turning around the lives of these vulnerable young people.

Applicants are required to have experience of working with children with social, emotional behavioural difficulties in a residential setting and hold a full driving licence.

You will be enrolled on their Management Development Programme to progress to a Registered House Manager.

Your primary responsibility as an Assistant House Manager will be to support your House Manager in leading the team of residential childcare practitioners. This will include creating an environment that encourages, motivates and provides opportunities for the team members to develop and improve. This will include the QCF qualification.

You will role model best practice child care and maintain a nurturing, caring, consistent and fun environment for our young people.

You will demonstrate how you can support safeguarding practices within the home.

The young people will be at the centre of your practice and you will create robust care plans, supporting their development and ensuring their opinions are considered within that process.

Requirements for the role:

  • QCF / NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce/Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Experience of leading a team, coaching colleagues and role modelling best practice in care
  • An awareness of legislation and standards
  • Exceptional communication skills, report writing and managing deadlines
  • Full, manual driving licence

An exciting, long-term contract role in an Ofsted rated “Good” children’s home. The home provides long-term residential placements for 4 to 5 children who have severe learning disabilities, autism and other complex behaviours.

Upon appointment, you will start ASAP and benefit from a full, in-depth induction. You will be supported by an extremely experienced Head of Service who is approachable and genuinely great to work with.

The home has en-suite accommodation for all children, as well as additional kitchens, communal spaces, offices and great staff facilities. There is also a well-resourced creative suite which is filled with a variety of arts and crafts materials for the children.

As a Registered Manager you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the home. You will also line manage Team Leaders and ensure staff teams have everything they need to do a great job while developing their own skills and careers.

Essential candidate criteria:

  • NVQ level 5 Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services
  • A minimum of 2 years, recent experience of working as a Registered Manager of a home for children with learning disabilities / autism
